Gonna Have to Face It, You’re Addicted to Sun

“Psst.

“Yeah, you.

“Come a little closer.

You want some sun? High quality. No waiting. Get your fix right here.”

Look at those scientists in action. Wow, who could have guessed that exposure to sunlight could cause endorphin release. And that does what now? Oh yeah, it makes you feel good and even provides pain relief. Hmmm… no wonder it takes so long for people to figure out they’ve been fried to a crisp under the sun’s rays. That sun, he’s a tricky one–deluding everyone into thinking he’s good while he’s really out there building up his vast following of sun junkies.

So now, they’ve show the sun’s all addictive and causes cancer. It’s like smoking without the bad breath, work authorized breaks, and tobacco companies to blame.

It’s a crazy, mixed up world out there. Next thing ya know, they’ll tell me spiders like to cuddle.

Breaking Out! - The Return

return-kungfuhustle-secrets.jpgHmm… new category. With old articles from a previous column being moved over to them (should all be there by the end of the week). Could Jeff be testing some new features or does he have other plans?

Other plans.

Yes, after a long (long) hiatus, Breaking Out! finally makes its return. Why now? Let’s just say for now, “love made me do it.” The statement will make more sense when the next Breaking Out! article hits.

The original column was a two-headed beast of advice and motivation. One head wanted to introduce creators to the business/marketing/sales aspects of the comics industry. Creators tend to get all wrapped up in creating and often overlook those aspects of turning something you love into an actual career (if that’s your goal). The other head wanted to give creators an extra kick in the pants…to motivate them…to encourage them…to help their passions soar. To keep them from giving up on their dreams…giving up on something they love.

There’s that “L” word again… must be important. Well, it was important enough for me to resurrect the column.

Pro debut…

since the comic came out this past wednesday, i figured that it would be safe to post this up for the world wide web to see...if you haven't already, go pick up Bomb Queen vol.III issue #1 at your local comic shop....well, what the hell are you waiting for?

the main story is penned by Jim Valentino and the art is masterfully drawn by Jimmie Robinson, i was honored enough to grace the back of the book with 5 whole pages! every one involved with the book was so impressed with my pencils, that if was decided to just color right over the top of them...sans ink! cool.

go check it out, it fantastic.

New York Comic Con…

Wanted to write up a quick overview of the New York Comic Con, and I’ll finally have the time for it… tonight (needed to finish up some pitches to send out).

I did want to share one quick story from the convention. After watching the Fantastic Four trailer, a girl asked her boyfriend about the Silver Surfer (and how he could fly through stuff). He went into this explanation about the Power Cosmic and manipulating molecules. Standard comic book stuff. You could see everyone in the crowd around him nodding their head in agreement with all he said. The girlfriend looks him in the eye as serious as can be and says, “I don’t get it.”
